Card Types

The app currently supports three different types of card types: open league, round robin and three discipline. All card types have 6 players per team and a minimum of 18 games. Each card type has different match entry grouping, player keys and extra features.

Open League

The open league card type allows each player 6 games to play. There are three lettered pairs A, B and C, not necessarily ordered by player strength. Each player's pair will play at least 4 games with their lettered partner, with 2 games to play on similar classification. The rest is opened and balanced in order to mix the partnership hence requiring more skills for adaptation from each player to play with 2 other partners.

The 6 players are ordered and assigned with the following keys: A1, A2, B3, B4, C5 and C6. These player keys are mapped to 18 match entry groupings. Each 18 match entry has a single game entry making the total number of games 18 as well. This means there is a total of 18 match points to be won. The order of play is 1&3, 2&5, 4&6, 3&5, 1&4, 2&6, B, A, C, B, C, A, C, C, B, B, A and lastly A. For example the match key 1&3 reads home player A1 paired with B3 versus away player A1 paired with B3. Another example with match key A reads home players A1 paired with A2 versus away players A1 paired with A2.

Round Robin

The round robin card type allows each player at least 6 games and a maximum of 9 games to play. The pairings of each player is fixed and do not mix with any other players. However as the name implies each pair is considered the smallest unit of team who plays each of the oppsite team in round robin fashion. With this in mind, the matches and game entries can be represented in tabular form or in a grid matrix.

The 6 players are ordered and assigned with the following keys : A, B and C. But for completeness the pairs are postfix by a number, hence the keys are A1, A2, B3, B4, C5 and C6. There are a total of 9 match points to be won with each match point being the best of three games. So the maximum number of games within the match card is 27. The order of play is A vs A, A vs B, A vs C, B vs A, B vs B, B vs C, C vs A, C vs B and C vs C. For example the match key A vs A reads home player A1 paired with A2 versus away player A1 paired with A2. Another example with match key C vs B reads home player C5 paired with C6 versus player B3 and B4.

Three discipline

The three discipline allows each player 6 games to play and showcases three disciplines of the sport, namely mens doubles (MD), womens doubles (WD) and mixed doubles (XD). It is similar to the open league in that each player mixes with at least another team member and plays at least 2 disciplines. Player classification A plays with more team members than class B or C. Player B and C plays at least 4 mixed doubles in the match night.

The 6 players are ordered and assigned with the following keys: MA, MB, MC, WA, WB and WC. There are a total of 18 match points to be won and a total of 18 game points no more no less. The order of play is MD-AB, WD-AB, MD-AC, WD-AC, XD-B, XD-C, XD-A, XD-C and XD-B. For example the match key MD-AB reads home player MA paired with MB versus away player MA paired with MB. Another example iwht match key XD-B vs XD-C reads mixed pair B is MB paired with WB versus mixed pair C is MC paired with WC.
